The World’s A Mess
by Martha brown
The world’s a mess,
Yet today I saw a lone star in the beginning night sky.
Yes, the world’s a mess,
But yesterday I saw a part of a rainbow and it had not rained.
The world is surely a mess,
But on Sunday I will go to Trinity and be among friends.
At the entrance four spires point upward toward the heavens
And as I step through the doors I anticipate worship.
I’ll enjoy the music, and the excitement of the children,
Be inspired by the words of scripture and the sermon.
I’ll be enveloped in Deborah’s and Glenda’s warm hugs
Go on a sugar high with chocolate from Ray’s candy box,
I’ll be thankful that Tom and I have an offering to contribute
And that I have a place saved for me by a dear friend.
After the service Pastor Joe promises a home visit.
The world’s a mess but on Sunday I’ve experienced
The love of God in Christian fellowship.
He’s still in control as evidenced by nature, reaffirmed by community
And bolstered by modern disciples of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Praise God for His wonderful grace.
