It often seems as though things never go right in our lives. Life’s uncertainty and lack of order leads us to conclude that it’s unfair.
In this video, Pastor Cy concludes the sermon series on “Wisdom for Living in Turbulent Times” series, examining Ecclesiastes 7:14-22. We see how the writer observed that “good” people often have “bad” days and die young, while “bad” people live long lives, yet finds that God is in all days, good and bad.
Pastor Cy also shows how the Teacher in Ecclesiastes concludes that life is uncertain and transitory and goes on to counsel balance in how we live, rejecting overly stringent religious practice and doctrine at the same time avoiding evil that we see around us.
These realizations, and remembering that God is in all things, working for the good of those who love him, allow us to accept and let go of what we perceive as unfair and to claim God’s promised presence with us, no matter what.
This video includes an overview of biblical wisdom literature, comparing and contrasting the different approaches taken in the books of Job, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes in attempts to find purpose and meaning to life.
