We all get upset, angry, burned, perhaps furious, and on it goes at times to full rage. While feeling anger by itself isn’t a sin, it can easily take us over and cause us to sin if we don’t take wise action to channel it. Left unchecked, rage can destroy relationships, community, emotional health and even physical lives.
In this sermon, “Resist Rage,” Pastor Cy draws on Proverbs 29:8-11 to demonstrate how anger is not a sin, what matters is how we respond to our initial feelings of anger.
Then he shows how anger and rage arises when we fee helpless or powerless over observed unfairness, injustice or loss to ourselves or others. After surveying the consequences of destructive rage, he concludes with the wise response to anger that enables us to creatively channel our anger into positive ministry.
